Qayoom Wani pays homage to Shujat Bukhari on his anniversay

Srinagar June 14 (KNS): On the second death anniversary of late Journalist and scholar Shujat Bukhari, Former EJAC president and civil society member Abdul Qayoom Wani on Saturday paid rich tributes to late Shujat Bukhari. In a statement Wani called Shujat Bukhari a legend of Kashmir society who represented the people not only in the field of journalism but also in other fields viz aspirations, art culture and language besides being a kind human being.
Wani said Late Bukhari who belonged to the literal family of historic kreeri village of north Kashmir, worked for the wellbeing of human society across globe and represented his fellow people everywhere was an icon in himself.
Wani said Late Shujat Bukhari served to uplift our mother tongue, Kashmiri at all fronts like, its introduction in school curriculum, his role as General Secretary in Adbi Markaz Kamraz and publishing kashmiri newspaper Sangarmaal besides the English daily Rising Kashmir and Urdu daily Buland Kashmir.
Wani said Bukhari was a legendary figure who contributed to social, educational and cultural aspects in seminars and by writing articles and book reviews.
Wani said, Bukhari respected every member of society especially the teaching community and raised voice for them always to highlght their demands through his pen.
Wani said Shujat Bukhari's contribution is written on the hearts of learned people and it will never get mutilated in history.
Paying homage to all other journalists who are not among us Wani reteriated his demand of revoking the new media policy which he said was undemocratic and onslaught on the freedom of press.(KNS)
