Srinagar, Aug. 4 (KNS): Senior People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammed Ashraf Malik on Tuesday congratulated Prashant Kishor on his victory from the Bankipur Assembly constituency, describing the result as a triumph of democratic values and a reflection of the electorate's faith in constitutional principles.
In a statement, Malik said Kishor's win was "not merely a personal victory" but represented the victory of an idea and reaffirmed the people's commitment to a secular, inclusive and constitutional India.
"The people of Bankipur have delivered a powerful democratic verdict, proving once again that the voice of the electorate is supreme," he said.
Malik said the outcome reflected what he described as growing public resistance to divisive and authoritarian politics, adding that no political stronghold remains invincible when voters decide to bring about change through the ballot.
Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party's defeat in Bankipur, a constituency it had held for more than three decades, the PDP leader said the result carried national political significance.

He said many political observers had viewed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent outreach to Generation Z as an indication of emerging political challenges, and claimed that the Bankipur verdict had added a new dimension to the evolving political landscape.
Malik also alleged that the result pointed to increasing public discontent with the BJP, saying it appeared that the party had suffered another political setback in Bihar following signs of dissatisfaction in other parts of the country.
Congratulating Kishor, he expressed hope that the newly elected legislator would fulfil the aspirations of the people by strengthening democratic institutions, safeguarding constitutional values, and working for justice, communal harmony and inclusive development.(KNS).
