Power department to install prepaid meters across J&K: Chief Engineer

 Srinagar, May 27(KNS); Power Development Department (PDD) of Kashmir has embarked on the second phase of its ambitious project to install smart meters which involves the transformation of traditional postpaid meters into cutting-edge prepaid smart meters, allowing users to conveniently recharge their connections via a mobile app based on their individual requirements and usage.

 
Chief Engineer of the Power Development Department, Javed Yousuf Dar, reassured consumers that the transition to prepaid smart meters would be seamless and hassle-free. Speaking exclusively to the Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dar emphasized that there was no cause for concern, and the department was fully prepared to address any confusion or queries that consumers might have.
 
He said that the installation of these prepaid smart meters marks a significant step forward in the energy management system, providing numerous benefits to both consumers and the PDD. "With the implementation of this technology, consumers will gain greater control over their energy usage, enabling them to monitor and manage their electricity consumption more effectively," he added.
 
Beyond the convenience it offers, he said that the installation of prepaid smart meters also provides long-term benefits for the Power Development Department. The new system ensures accurate and real-time energy consumption tracking, allowing the PDD to streamline its operations, optimize energy distribution, and effectively address any power-related issues, he added.
 
He also said that the PDD has taken proactive measures to ensure a smooth transition to this innovative system. "In addition to offering comprehensive assistance to consumers, the department has organized awareness campaigns and workshops to educate the public about the benefits and usage of prepaid smart meters," the top official said.
 
Dar, on behalf of the Power Development Department, extended his invitation to consumers to approach the department directly for any queries or concerns. "The PDD remains committed to providing transparent and reliable support throughout the installation process, ensuring a seamless transition into a smarter energy future," he added.
