Post COVID-19 Era, Mega Block Health Mela held in Sopore

Sopore, Apr 20 (KNS) : After a gap of atleast two years, Block health mela was celebrated in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. 
 
Block Medical Officer Sopore, Dr Zulfiqar while inaugurating the Block Health Mela organized at Bomai Zaingeer area of Sopore said that it is necessary to organize health camps to connect the general public with health services and to reach the beneficiaries about the beneficial schemes of the health department.
 
It should be our endeavor that the benefits of the schemes run by the government should reach the last beneficiary living in remote areas. People should be health conscious and get their tests done in time and get treatment. Better health is our greatest asset, Dr Zulfiqar said. 
 
On the occasion, people were examined by specialists in neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, cardiology, urology, chest, gastroenterology, gynaecology and obstetrics, dermatology, endocrinology, child specialist, dental, general medicine, general surgery and Ayush clinics. 
 
A team of doctors including Dr. Rabiya, Dr. Javeed, Dr. Mushtaq, Dr. Ramzan, Dr. Rakshanda, Dr. Azmat, Dr Rasheed and other paramedics at the first stall of the camp provided free consultations to people during the camp. Tests like BP, Blood Sugar, Blood Grouping, HB, etc were offered free of cost in the camp and awareness was given to public about NCD RBSK.
 
Incharge Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) SDH Sopore Mudasir Nazir during the mela rolled out awareness regarding PMJAY scheme that comes with a maximum sum insured of Rs 5 lakh per family. Besides the hospital treatment cost, the scheme also covers the cost of diagnostic tests, medicines, pre-hospitalization expenses, Ayush and it's significance in today's era. 
 
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla, Dr. Bashir Ahmed congratulated the team of Health and Block medical Officer Sopore for organizing health Camp-cum-Mela in order to bring awareness in people over their present health conditions. 
 
"It turned out to be a highly successful day as our sacred aim to bring awareness among people about their health was fulfilled", CMO said. 
 
Apart from CMO Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmed and BMO Sopore Dr. Zulfiqar, BDC Chairperson Fareeda Khan, Tehsildar Bomai Mohammad Shafi, Station House Officer Bomai (SHO) Imtiyaz Ahmed and other civil dignitaries were present on the occasion.
