Kupwara, Dec 03 (KNS): Amid harsh winters, the election campaign created enthusiasm in all thirty two Panchayats of Drugmulla kupwara as the long-awaited polls will be held on December 05 in the DDC constituency.


The poll campaign that seen least participation of people in the initial days, now gaining a moment as the candidates with party leaders are knocking every door to convince the voter's. 

Authorities have put in place all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the repoling in the Drugmulla Kupwara DDC constituency.

Spanning across 30 panchayat, 42 polling stations, about 32 thousand voters will have the power to decide the fate of 10 contesting candidates.

The DDC constituency of Drugmulla Kupwara is exclusively reserved for women, with ten contenders vying for the election.

PC, BJP Congress, and Apni Party, have intensified their campaigning to sway the voters in their favor.

In a twist the PAGD candidate in last election, Shabnam Lone has now support of people's conference.

PDP earlier in a statement said that, they wrote a letter to District Election Officer/District Magistrate Kupwara where they said that the Shabnum Lone W/O Bilal Ahmad Lone, R/O Redbugh Kupwara is not associated with the JKPDP anymore. Hence the party hereby withdraws her authorization as the party candidate and use of its election symbol for the above mentioned election,” the letter reads. However her nomination or symbol was not withdrawn. 

Sunil Sharma, a senior BJP leader, addressed a group of citizens the day prior and stated that the re-poll in Drugmulla Kupwara is somewhat special, yet his party remains confident of victory. 

He accused PAGD of misleading the public, and remarked that the NC had already separated itself from the alliance but came together only when they sensed vulnerability.

Talking to former MP, recently joined PC, Fayaz Mir said he offered full support to Shabnam Lone, and is sure about her victory. 

Mir also said that the NC is supporting a proxy candidate but not owning candidate openly. 

Every party has its own candidate, but PC is the only party to secure this seat, he said. 

A resident of Drugmulla, who has been Sarpanch in the past hailed the decision of Government to reserve seats for women, as he believes, the move will give a representation to women to fight for their rights. 

The Jammu & Kashmir State Election Commission has prohibited the conduct of any exit poll in Drugmulla (Kupwara) and Hajin-A district development constituencies till December 5. (KNS)
