Police resort to teargas shelling, lathi charge as farmers march toward Delhi for tractor rally on Republic Day

 

Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNS): Police on Tuesday used teargas and lathi charge as thousands of farmers, protesting against the newly framed three laws by the central government, marched towards Delhi to take out a proposed tractor rally on the Republic Day. 

Reports reaching news agency KNS that farmers marched towards Delhi amid huge presence of police at Delhi border, leading to huge chaos on the border.

They said that the police used teargas shells and lathi charge on the protesting farmers, who did not relent, breaking the police barricades and carried forward their march towards Delhi to take out proposed tractor rally. 

Amid celebrations for 72nd Republic Day across the country, farmers were allowed to hold their tractor rally in Delhi after the annual event at the iconic Rajpath.

As per reports crowds, however, swelled at the borders at around 8 AM even before the annual celebrations started, thereby leading to chaos on Delhi border.

Pertinently, protesting farmers had proposed a tractor rally on the Republic Day in Delhi to protest against the newly framed three laws by the union government. (KNS)
