Police file FIR over Hardpanzoo incident, warn of action against rumour-mongers

 Budgam, June 29(KNS): Police have registered an FIR in connection with the Hardpanzoo incident involving followers of different groups within the Shia community and said an investigation is underway to identify and take legal action against those responsible for any unlawful activity.

 
In a statement, police said the investigation would be conducted in a fair, impartial and professional manner, with every aspect of the incident being examined on the basis of evidence.
 
It said no individual found culpable would be spared, irrespective of affiliation.
 
Police also expressed concern over the circulation of misleading and unverified content related to the incident on social media, saying such posts had the potential to create panic, disturb public order and undermine communal harmony.

Police said social media activity was being closely monitored and warned that anyone found creating, circulating or amplifying false or provocative content with the intent to mislead the public or disrupt peace would face legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
 
Appealing to all sections of society to maintain peace and communal harmony, police sought public cooperation in the investigation and said it remained committed to ensuring a transparent, impartial and lawful probe while taking firm action against anyone attempting to disturb public order.(KNS).
