Physically Handicapped Seek Govt Job Age Relaxation

Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNS): In a heartfelt plea addressed to the administration of Jammu and Kashmir, physically handicapped individuals from the region have requested an increase in the age relaxation for government job applications.

Currently, the age limit stands at 42 years for this category, unlike in other states where it is extended up to 48 years.

Expressing their desire to contribute to the workforce and alleviate any burden on their families, these candidates highlight the necessity of equal opportunities in government employment.

They emphasise that by extending the age relaxation, they would have a better chance to secure stable positions within the public sector. They assert that facilitating their integration into the workforce on fair terms aligns with fundamental principles of equality and social justice.

"We, representing physically handicapped candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, earnestly urge the LG, Chief Secretary, and Social Welfare Department to consider and approve our request to raise the age limit for government job applications to 48 years. It is imperative that our concerns regarding equitable opportunities for physically challenged applicants are addressed through appropriate channels, including the State Administration Council,” they said.

Addressing their plea to key stakeholders including the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary, Secretariat Commissioner, and the Social Welfare Department of Jammu and Kashmir, the physically handicapped community stresses the significance of inclusivity and accessibility in governmental policies.(KNS)
