PG DNB students of GMC Anantnag rue non-payment of stipends for 5 months

Srinagar, Sep 02(KNS): Postgraduate DNB students at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag have been grappling with unpaid stipends for the past five months, exacerbating their financial woes. This disheartening situation has persisted for a year since their enrollment in the college.

Expressing their concern, one student from the 2022 batch stated, "The 2022 batch received stipends only once, back in March. We have reached out to multiple authorities, including the college principal, finance department, Health Secretary NHM, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, and the National Board of Examinations (NBE), urging them to release our stipends on time. Unfortunately, we have not received any response from the concerned authorities."

The prolonged absence of stipends has taken a severe toll on the mental well-being of these students, who find themselves burdened with mounting debts. Many of their families are also grappling with financial distress, as they rely on these stipends to support their education and livelihoods.

The students are now calling for immediate action to rectify this irregularity and ensure that their stipends are disbursed promptly. They hope that their plea will be heard, and a solution can be found to alleviate their financial hardships and restore their peace of mind.(KNS).
