Demands probe in Shopian civilian killing

Srinagar, Oct 24 (KNS): Awami National Conference Chief spokesperson Sunday said that there is complete ‘Jungle Raj’ prevailing in Kashmir Valley.He said people are being made hostage whenever any dignitary from Centre visits Valley.

“There was absolute chaos on the arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Srinagar. The Boulevard Road was made out of bounds for people. The road from Badyari Chowk to Nishat wore a deserted look as people faced lot of harassment. Bikers were put into hardships as their bikes were seized without any justification. Even those bikers were asked to take their bikes back after few days who were in possession of all valid documents,”ANC Chief Spokesperson said in a statement.

ANC Chief Spokesperson said that thousands of boys have been detained and thousands of bikes seized. He said 2 lakh people have been put under wrongful confinement while free movement of half a million curbed.

He said these acts on the part of the BJP administration amounts to severe violation of human rights not recognised & allowed under the Constitutional Guarentees.

He said that the deployed police personnel and para-military troopers even didn’t care of those people who were supposed to either visit a medical shop or hospital. “Kashmir has become an open air prison where people face lot of harassment in the name of security,” he said.

While condemning the killing of a young man in Shopian, he demanded to put an end to the civilian killings in Kashmir Valley. “The Shopian incident should be probed and culprits should be brought to justice,” he said. (KNS)
