PC committed to encourage active and meaningful participation of women in politics: Vakil


Srinagar, March 31 (KNS): J&K Peoples Confernece today organised a women convention for Eidgah constituency at Koker Masjid Nawakadal. The convention was presided over by PC senior vice president Abdul Gani Vakil, Irfan Mattoo, Mohammad Sulaiman Bhat among others.

Vakil while addressing the gathering said in a statement that women must emerge as a powerful voice in the socio political sphere of J&K and that the party is committed to encourage active and meaningful participation of women to address the challenges that have an impact on them and their future".

"There is a dire need for ensuring greater participation of women in political set up of Jammu and Kashmir. It is imperative for women to have their voices heard and become partners in the decision-making process. PC is cognisant of the issues and hardships faced by the women in getting their voices heard. We will do everything to encourage women participation and create spaces for them to take the mantle of responsibility to shape a brighter future for the coming generations", he added.

Meanwhile the PC leaders also expressed grief over Noorbagh fire incident in which more than 20 residential houses were gutted. PC delegation led by Irfan Mattoo also visited the victim families and distributed blankets, food and essential commodities to the victim families. They also ensured full support of the party to rehabilitate these families.(KNS)
