Parsa says she is excited to be part pf diverse group of global leaders

Srinagar, Dec 07 (KNS): Parsa Mufti, who hails from Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has become the first Kashmiri to be selected for Schwarzman Scholars, one of the most selective courses in the world, funded by American Billionaire Stephen Schwarzman.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that for the first time, a Kashmiri has been selected as a Schwarzman Scholar, one of the world’s most prestigious graduate fellowships in the world.

The statement reads that Parsa has been selected among the only five Indian for this prestigious programme this year.

“Schwarzman Scholars has an acceptance rate of only 3%, making it is one of the most competitive scholarships in the world.”

As per the statement, Parsa is a lawyer and political strategist, and works for the Samruddha Bharat Foundation in New Delhi, where she works with leaders across various political parties.

She also heads The Tryst, which has more than 3.9 lakh subscribers on YouTube.  

Schwarzman Scholars, located at Schwarzman College on the campus of Tsinghua University in Beijing, announced its seventh cohort.

While talking to KNS Parsa said that this was her first attempt and she had started preparing for her application in May. “It took 6 months to prepare a good application. It was quite a tedious journey but in the end the hard work paid off,” she said.

She said that she is extremely excited to be part of this diverse group of global leaders.

“It is my honour to represent Kashmir on an international level. I hope i will be able to use this platform to make substantive changes in the world. And I hope this encourages more people to apply,” she said. (KNS)
