Srinagar, July 24 (KNS): In a well-coordinated plan to disrupt the returning peace in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), Pakistan has shifted its operations from Kashmir to Jammu, aiming to engage the youth in drug-related activities, said Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh on Monday.

"J&K Police and other security agencies have been relentless in its fight against drug peddling. Over the last year, a massive 1 million kg of drugs have been destroyed by Indian authorities, while J&K Police and security forces have successfully seized and aborted 80,000 kg of drugs in the region. The commitment to eradicate drug-related problems highlights the collective resolve to ensure a secure and prosperous future for the people of J&K," the J&K Police Chief Dilbagh Singh told the reporters at Srinagar.

Singh expressed his unwavering determination to maintain peace and harmony in the region. He congratulated all those who supported the conduct of Amarnath Yatra, an important religious pilgrimage in the area.

He also assured that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of Muharram proceedings, a significant event for the Muslim community.

"We want all religious programs to be carried out with religious fervor, and they should be done in a peaceful manner," said the DGP, emphasizing the importance of preserving communal harmony and respecting each other's beliefs.

"Despite Pakistan's attempts to disrupt peace and create instability in J&K, the region remains resilient and determined to build a better future. The focus on education, local development, and eradicating drug-related issues showcases the commitment of the people and the government to foster progress and prosperity in the region," he added.

He also said that the security grid in J&K are united in their efforts to counter any nefarious activities that aim to derail the ongoing peace-building initiatives. The people of J&K are standing strong, ready to protect their unity and work together towards a brighter future for the region, he added. (KNS)
