Srinagar, Jul 16 (KNS): The Baramulla police have ordered that only journalists carrying valid identity cards issued by the District Information Officer (DIO), Baramulla, will be allowed access to official functions and other high-security events in the district.
In an order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, the directive applies to official functions, VVIP and VIP visits, religious gatherings, public events and all other occasions requiring police deployment.
Under the order, only accredited media persons possessing valid DIO-issued identity cards will be permitted entry into designated media enclosures, deployment areas and other restricted locations.
No person claiming to represent print, electronic, digital or social media platforms will be allowed entry unless they produce a valid identity card issued by the DIO, Baramulla, the order said.
Supervisory officers have also been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directions by personnel under their command. Any violation of the order or unauthorised access will be viewed seriously, it added.
The order came into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.(KNS
