Srinagar, Jun 15 (KNS): Amid growing concern over preparedness for the holy month of Muharram, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Monday urged the administration to promptly finalise all arrangements across Kashmir, with special focus on Budgam district.
In a statement, Yaseen said Muharram holds immense religious and emotional significance for the Muslim community, and called for seamless civic, traffic, and security facilities to ensure smooth observance of processions and majlis.
He stressed on uninterrupted power, water, and healthcare services, while directing his appeal to the Power Development Department, Jal Shakti, Health, Municipal bodies, and the Traffic Police to work in close coordination.

The PDF president also called for proper maintenance of designated procession routes, adequate street lighting, sanitation, and deployment of ambulances and emergency response teams, particularly in sensitive areas with large gatherings.
“Muharram has always been observed with deep reverence and discipline in the Valley,” Yaseen said, expressing hope that authorities would uphold this legacy through timely and effective steps. He also appealed to the people to maintain peace, patience, and dignity, and extend full cooperation to the administration. (KNS)
