New Delhi, Jul 16 (KNS): The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday declared the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2026, with over 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses.
Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the country's largest medical entrance examination, conducted on June 21 at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas locations. The agency said the results had been announced in time to facilitate the counselling and admission process.
The highest score of 715 out of 720 was jointly secured by Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana. In all, 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 138 candidates obtained more than 690 marks. Over 93 per cent of these top scorers were first-time test takers.
The examination saw participation from candidates across all states and Union Territories and was conducted in 13 languages. More than 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are women, with the NTA saying women also recorded a marginally higher qualifying rate than men.
Uttar Pradesh accounted for the highest number of qualified candidates at over 1.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel7 lakh, while Lakshadweep had 43 successful candidates. Seventeen state toppers scored 700 marks or above and 26 crossed the 690-mark threshold.
Among categories, 5.12 lakh candidates from the OBC-NCL category qualified, followed by 2.91 lakh from the General category, 1.59 lakh Scheduled Caste candidates, 95,026 from the General-EWS category and 63,716 Scheduled Tribe candidates. Another 3,666 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates also qualified.
The NTA said the provisional answer key was released on June 25, scanned OMR sheets were displayed to candidates between July 13 and 15, and the final answer key was published on Thursday before the declaration of results.
The agency advised candidates to rely only on official websites for counselling and cautioned them against fraudulent calls and websites offering admissions or score enhancement. Counselling for the All India Quota will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee, while admissions under state quotas will be handled by the respective state authorities.(KNS)
