Srinagar, July 02 (KNS): A government medical officer has opted for voluntary retirement with over 1 year of service period to spare. 

 
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Dr Noor-ud-din Shah posted as medical officer with the government of Jammu and Kashmir had applied for voluntary retirement over 1 year ahead of his retirement period.
 
He said that the authorities have accepted his application for voluntary retirement, who was posted at police hospital Srinagar.  
 
“In terms ofArticle 230 (I) ofJ&K CSRs Vol-I, read with SR0-217 dated 22nd of May 2017, sanction is, hereby, accorded to the grant of voluntary retirement in respect of Dr. Noor-ud-din Shah, Medical Officer, Police Hospital, Srinagar w.e.f 31.03.2023 (A.N) on his own request,” reads an order.
 
Meanwhile, sources said that Shah is likely to join mainstream politics, which is why he has opted for voluntary retirement from the service.
 
They said that Shah, who hails from Trehgam area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, is likely to join Altaf Bukhari led Jammu and Kashmir Apni party in the coming days. Shah told KNS that besides working for the welfare of people as a doctor, he wants to work for them by being in politics and do something for the society.
 
He said that he had applied for voluntary retirement and he is thankful to the government for accepting his premature retirement request. (KNS)
