Chandigarh, March 26 (KNS): In a momentous occasion at the Chandigarh Climate Meet, an esteemed event and international conference focusing on "Environment and Sustainable Development," Mr. Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), was honored with the prestigious 3rd Chandigarh Green Award 2024 by the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh.
The esteemed accolade was presented in the presence of distinguished delegates and environmentalists from across the nation for his remarkable contributions and relentless efforts in revitalizing the lakes and water bodies of the valley.
Mr. Wangnoo has been spearheading the public-led campaign called Mission Ehsaas, dedicated to the revival of the twin urban lakes of Gilsar and Khushalsar. His initiatives have garnered widespread acclaim and massive support from various quarters.
In a notable collaboration with the district administration of Ganderbal, Mr. Wangnoo recently launched an ambitious project involving the plantation of 50,000 trees and the revival of springs across the district, furthering his commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Wangnoo is a statement extended his gratitude to the Divisional Administration, his family, friend and stakeholders for their support dedication and collaboration that has have been instrumental in during the mission.
