Dir SKIMS being punished for no reason, say protesters

Urge Govt to reinstate him

Srinagar, Jan 10 (KNS): Days after the government attached the Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), the supporters of Dr A G Ahanger on Wednesday staged protest against the government for taking ‘unnecessary action’ against the head of the institute, saying that the step taken by the government will affect the institute.
The protesters including Bar members, employees and locals youth assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans in favour of Dr A G Ahanger, demanding authorities to reinstate the head of the institute at an earliest.
The protesters were holding banners and placards displaying ‘we stand with Dr A G Ahanger’.
They said that has taken unnecessary action against the head of the SK Institute of Medical Sciences, stating that he is being punished for the guilt of others. “What was the fault of Dr A G Ahanger. He is not a policeman to keep an eye on the medicos to see whether they are doing private practice or not,” they said.
The protesters also said that police should arrest the doctors involved in private practice and should take appropriate action against them. “Those involved should be punished but the head of the institute who has nothing to do with the private practice should be reinstated at an earliest,” they said.
They also said that the attaching the head of the institute would affect the hospital especially the patient care. “We are here to show solidarity with the head of the institute as he is being punished for no reasons,” they added.
The protesters urged the government to look into the matter and again and reinstate the SKIMS head at an earliest. (KNS)
