Mudasir Karim expresses gratitude to DC Srinagar for addressing Muharram concerns

 Srinagar, July 16 (KNS): People’s Conference youth president Mudasir Karim on Sunday expressed gratitude to deputy commissioner Srinagar for addressing various concerns related to Muharram during his spot visit to several areas in Srinagar.  

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mudasir Karim said that DC Srinagar ensurer safe and well-organised Muharram as he took immediate steps over some pressing issues. 

He said that aong the concerns raised were the deplorable condition of the route from Alipora (Botaqadal) to Madin Sahab (Hawal), where a choked drain emitted a foul smell due to stagnant water.

He said that he also highlighter several issues regarding broken metallic covers of overground drains from Baba Mazaar to Imam Bargah Zadibal, which posed a threat to mourners, leading to injuries.

Karim said that recognizing the urgency of these issues, DC Srinagar took immediate action to address them on the spot.

He also said that several other issues including need for relocation of existing massive pipes in Zadibal area, immediate blacktopping and pothole filling on several roads frequently used by mourners especially Alamgari Bazaar to Doonipora- Alamgari Bazaar to Gasiyar, Durbal (Bemina) among others were also raised before DC Srinagar.

Karim also stressed the requirement for additional dumpers in Shia-dominated areas to ensure timely clearance of waste generated by regular niyaz events.

He said that these immediate actions showcase the administration’s commitment to address the grievances and ensure safety and well-being of the residents.

He said that DC Srinagar assured the community that each concern would be effectively addressed. “He swiftly coordinated efforts between multiple departments, including UEED, NHPC, SMC, JKPDCL, Jal Shakti, DHSK, CAPD, and others to initiate the necessary actions.”

He said that the visit proved to be a significant as DC Srinagar addressed several pressing issues on the spot, providing much-needed relief to the community.

“The visit not only resolved immediate concerns but also paved the way for long-term improvements, such as establishing a helpline number and a nodal officer for Muharram-related grievances and ensuring proper facilities and supplies for medical emergencies,” he said. (KNS)
