Srinagar, 15 April (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Senior leader and former speaker Mubarak Gul on Tuesday expressed deep anguish over the incident of conflagration in the Noorbagh Locality of Srinagar.

According to statement issued to KNS, Party senior leader while expressing grief over the incident said, “It is heart wrenching to hear of such an unfortunate incident that has devoured number of houses, many other houses in the vicinity have also incurred many damages. I express solidarity with the affected families. Meanwhile I urge the administration to come to the rescue of the affected by providing them immediate relief in terms of necessary edibles and other household items. The prevailing circumstances have added to the miseries of the affected families, it goes without saying how challenging it must be for the affected to come to terms with the loss. It is for the government now to provide succor to the affected families.”

Gul said that government should immediately access the losses to the families and recompense it as soon as possible. “The government is also duty bound to provide for the basic needs of the affected family unless they rise on their feet again. Government should make it a point to provide free ration and financial support to the affected. It is impossible for the affected to rebuild the gutted structures at this time, due to the lockdown and the C0VID-19 crises, therefore government should ensure that the temporary accommodation to the affected on priority basis. I once again extend my sympathies with the affected. I share their grief. God willingly they shall again rise on their feet.”

He further said that the houses as have incurred partial damages should also be adequately compensated. (KNS)
