Srinagar, Jul 13 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday paid tributes to those killed in the July 13, 1931 firing and alleged that he had been placed under house arrest while restrictions were imposed around Srinagar's Jama Masjid and the Martyrs' Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib.
In a post on X, the Mirwaiz said he paid "glorious tributes" to the "first martyrs" whose sacrifice, according to him, laid the foundation of the people's struggle for justice, dignity and human rights.
"With deep emotion and reverence we pay our respects and glorious tributes to our first Martyrs, who 95 years ago on this day, by their supreme sacrifice laid the foundation of the people's struggle for justice, dignity and human rights.

The Mirwaiz alleged that people were being prevented from offering *fatiha* at the Martyrs' Graveyard.
"It is painful and unfortunate that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are prevented by force from offering *fatiha* and paying homage to the martyrs, as all roads leading to Mazar-e-Shuhada, Naqshband Sahib, are blocked and barricaded and restrictions imposed around Jama Masjid Srinagar and I have once again been placed under house arrest," he said.
He asserted that "graveyards may be sealed, roads blocked and people confined", but the memory of the martyrs would endure.(KNS).
