Srinagar, 08 Jul (KNS) : Reaffirming the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people, senior party leader and Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad Wednesday said National Conference's history is defined by sacrifice and its future will continue to be guided by service to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mian Altaf was addressing a commemorative gathering at Chawalgam Kulgam, held to mark the 20th martyrdom anniversary of senior National Conference leader Advocate Ghulam Nabi Dar.

The programme was attended by MLA Anantnag West Abdul Majeed Larmi, MLA Devsar Peerzada Feroze Ahmad, Provincial Secretary Syed Touqeer Ahmad, former MLA Shopian Sheikh Mohammad Rafi, District President Kulgam Safdar Ali Khan, and other senior party leaders and functionaries.

The event, held at the Rest House, Chawalgam was organised by Party State Spokesperson and Constituency In-charge Kulgam Imran Nabi Dar.

Addressing the gathering, Mian Altaf said the National Conference has made unparalleled sacrifices both in lives and in spirit to uphold the rights, dignity and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Our party has endured immense hardships throughout its history, yet it has never wavered from its commitment to the people. The National Conference will continue to stand as the foremost defender of the interests of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of the challenges before it," he said.

Recalling the sacrifices of party martyrs, Mian Altaf said Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar was among those distinguished leaders who laid down their lives while steadfastly serving the people and strengthening democratic values.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"He was a man of integrity, humility and unwavering commitment to public service. His life and sacrifice remain a source of inspiration for generations of National Conference workers and for the people he served," he added.

Paying homage to the late leader, other speakers described Advocate Ghulam Nabi Dar as an institution in himself whose contributions extended far beyond politics. They recalled his instrumental role in the creation of Kulgam district and highlighted his lifelong dedication to public welfare, particularly his selfless service in providing free legal assistance to the underprivileged.

Earlier, party leaders, office-bearers and workers offered fateha at the final resting place of late leader, offered floral tributes and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Among those present were Liaqat Ali Khan, Bashir Ahmad Naikoo, Youth leaders Mushtaq Shah, Irfan Gul, Nasir Khan, Muneeb Zargar, District President YNC Mohammad Aslam Bhat, Dr. Sartaj Bhan and several other party functionaries.

Meanwhile the party General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar chaired a commemorative meeting marking the 20th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha where party leaders recalled the enduring legacy of his sacrifice, public service and unwavering commitment to the National Conference.(KNS)
