Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): MP Anantnag, Hasnain Masoodi has expressed grief and shock over loss of life due to untimely and heavy snowfall at Noor Pora Tral. Masoodi soon after the deaths were reported, called District Develomemt Commissioners Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama and requested that all the nomads in their respective jurisdictions living in tents and temporary shelters be shifted to available government buildings and provided necessities of life, to prevent any further loss of life and minimise immense inconvenience to the families affected by inclement weather. He has expressed deep and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved and asked the government to pay compensation to the affected families.

Masoodi, in a statement issued to press, has also expressed grief over loss to apple crop and orchards and other standing crops due to heavy snowfall, in different parts of south Kashmir. He has impressed upon the administration to immediately constitute teams of experts and officials to assess the loss and take steps to sanction compensation to affected farmers and apple growers without any delay. Masoodi has called for waiver of loans to small farmers and suspension of recovery in favour of other loanees. (KNS)
