Srinagar, Aug 4 (KNS): Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), Manzoor Wangnoo, was on Tuesday conferred the "Green Ambassador of Kashmir" award by the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) in recognition of his contribution to environmental conservation and promotion of sustainable tourism in the Valley.
The award was presented during TAFI's Annual General Meeting held in Srinagar by Gulmarg MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah in the presence of Joint Director Tourism Kashmir Waseem Raja and members of the travel and tourism fraternity.
According to organisers, the honour recognises Wangnoo's sustained efforts towards the restoration of Kashmir's water bodies and his work through NLCO's flagship environmental campaign, Mission Ehsaas.

Receiving the award, Wangnoo dedicated the recognition to NLCO volunteers, stakeholders, the administration and citizens associated with the conservation initiative.
He said the conservation of Kashmir's lakes, wetlands, rivers and forests requires collective efforts involving government agencies, civil society, educational institutions and the tourism sector.
Wangnoo also reaffirmed NLCO's commitment to promoting responsible tourism, ecological restoration and community participation, saying environmental conservation is essential for the sustainable growth of Jammu and Kashmir's tourism industry.(KNS).
