Srinagar, Jul 31 (KNS): Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and raised a host of issues related to sports, religious affairs and infrastructure development in the Union Territory.

Sharma, accompanied by BJP MLA from Billawar Satish Sharma, urged the lieutenant governor to address the concerns of several sportspersons who were allegedly left out of a recent selection list despite their achievements.

The delegation specifically highlighted the cases of deserving para-athletes and Arjuna Awardees, seeking recognition and extension of benefits to eligible sportspersons.

They also discussed matters concerning the Shri Sukrala Mata Shrine Board and stressed the need to strengthen its functioning by improving infrastructure and facilities for pilgrims, while promoting the shrine as a religious and tourism destination.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The BJP leaders further flagged issues related to infrastructure development, public welfare, tourism, connectivity and the timely execution of development projects across different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an official statement, the lieutenant governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the delegation and assured them that all genuine concerns would be examined on priority and appropriate directions would be issued to the concerned departments.

Sharma thanked the lieutenant governor for his positive response and expressed confidence that the issues highlighted during the meeting would receive due consideration in the larger interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the statement added.(KNS)
