SRINAGAR, MAY 12 (KNS): The Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) has conducted a demolition drive in the area of Saidakadal Rangerstop.

During the drive, one under construction structure near the bridge, one single storey at Saidakadal and a plinth for shops, raised in the green belt area were demolished on spot.

Also, the illegal filling in the area of Rakh-i-Arth in Bay 04A was removed on spot. However, opposite Bay 08 there was stiff resistance from the assembled crowd and as such the encroachment could not be removed fully.

The violators taking the advantage of current lockdown (Covid-19) had indulged in raising these illegal constructions which were on spot demolished by the demolition team. Also, legal action warranted under rules was initiated against the violators.

The demolition team was accompanied by the security provided by PCR Sgr and Ladies contingent during the demolition drive.(KNS)
