Laigaroo demands extension for last instalment of Sales Tax

Srinagar, June 26 (KNS): People’s Democratic Party youth secretary Arif Laigaro on Friday has demanded that JK government must take a considerate view for further extension of sales tax Amnesty announced by the then Finance Minister.

In a statement issued to KNS he said , that the third and final instalment was to be paid by 31st of March, 2020, which due to 5th Aug, 2019 circumstances was the extended first up to 31st, March 2020 and then once again due to COVID lockdown was further extended up to 30th June, 2020.

In view of the present business situation and keeping in consideration that since lockdown was implemented on 21st of March, the business fraternity has only started partially resuming its business operations since 10th of June 2020 on alternate basis. Thus, every business has been operational for only 10 days since the lockdown was eased.

Laigaro on behalf of the traders of J&K who have already paid 2 instalments on time and are unable to pay the third instalment due to prevailing situations appealed the government to take a lenient view and extended the same further for a period upto 31st Dec, 2020, so as traders get ample time to handle their Business Stress, Bank Stress and the payment that’s due towards third and final instalment of Amnesty.
