Kupwara's Karnah, villagers hold protest against water shortage

Kupwara, Aug 8:(KNS)The residents of Bakhayain Tanghdar village in Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have complained of severe shortage of drinking water.

 The residents here have staged a protest outside the residential quarter of Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Karnah against the jal shakti department for failing to supply drinking water to them.

 Witnesses told Kashmir News Service(KNS) that the protesting villagers claimed the department has failed to provide drinking water supply to the villagers from last one month.

The residents said that they approached the Jal shakti official many times in this regard but they always dejected the people, "We appealing to the higher ups to look into matter and ensure proper drinking water supply, " the locals said. 

Concerned AEE when contacted by KNS 'he rejected the claims of locals and said that there is no shortage of drinking water in the area. "If there is any shortcoming, they will fix it soon" he added. (KNS).
