Jammu, Jul 30 (KNS): Kashmiri Pandit leaders urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to immediately repair and renovate migrant quarters in Jagti Township and other relief camps, saying the recent heavy rainfall has worsened the condition of already dilapidated accommodations.
Senior Kashmiri Pandit leader and General Secretary of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj M.K. Yogi, along with President of the Jammu and Kashmir Displaced Kashmiri Pandit Front Vinod Pandita, visited Jagti Township and the TRT Nagrota camp to assess the damage caused by the ongoing monsoon rains.
During the visit, the leaders interacted with displaced families who complained of leaking roofs, seepage and deteriorating living conditions, particularly in Jagti Township, where several residential quarters have reportedly become unsafe due to persistent rainfall.
In a joint statement, Yogi and Pandita said the condition of the migrant quarters poses serious risks to residents and requires urgent intervention from the authorities.

They also highlighted the shortage of safe drinking water in Jagti Township and TRT Nagrota, saying the displaced community had sought regular and uninterrupted water supply.
The leaders appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner to take immediate steps to repair and renovate the damaged quarters on humanitarian grounds and ensure a regular supply of potable drinking water in Jagti and other migrant camps.
Several members of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, including Ashok Kumar Koul, Jyoti Dhar, Vinod Bhat, Inderjit Raina, Dazy Dhar, Virender Ganjoo, Sanjay Raina, Ashutosh Pandita, M.K. Raina and Ashish Kumar, supported the demand for immediate action, the statement said.(KNS).
