Srinagar, Jul 08 (KNS): Days after the Kashmir News Service (KNS) highlighted issue of overload in vehicles carrying material, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ganderbal during the intervening night of 07 and 08 July raided Sonamarg area and found many vehicles overloaded without weighing slips.

Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that ARTO Ganderbal raided at Koker Kadal Nilgrath Sonamarg and sent back the vehicles at around 02:10 am.

Meanwhile, drivers hailed the action of ARTO Ganderbal and stated that such an action will prevent the accidents on Zojila Pass.

Talking to KNS, ARTO Ganderbal Arif Ahmad said that “we have fined five overloaded trucks during the raid and a total amount of Rs 35000 was recovered from them. Anyone found involved in violating then MVD act will be dealt with strictly.” (KNS)
