Srinagar 04 July (KNS): A one-day workshop for editors and journalists affiliated to local news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) was held at Kashmir Press House in Srinagar on Saturday.

The workshop was presided over by founder and Editor-in-Chief of KNS, Muhammad Aslam Bhat, and was attended by KNS correspondents from all the ten districts of the Valley. Editors of both Urdu and English sections of the organization were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, district correspondents shared their experiences and difficulties in news reporting from the peripheries.

They said that they are connected with the common people at the grassroots level, so the common people expect from them that they will help in addressing the problems and difficulties faced by the common masses and put forward their demands to the authorities.

They also said that they are proud of the fact that they are affiliated with KNS, which is a reputed and one of the oldest media organizations of the valley.

Editor-in-chief, Mohammad Aslam Bhat said that correspondence's job is not an easy job, while an editor makes a good news report based on the information and details provided by a correspondent.

He said that senior journalists of the valley have worked with KNS, and all of them had put in hard efforts not only to make themselves grow but this organization as well.

"Credibility has been an important goal of KNS and we have never compromised with it. We never do any news or event without cross-checking," he said, while asking the reporters to first find out the real facts about any incident and when they are satisfied, only then contact the concerned civil or police officer to record his/her statement regarding the issue.

He said that KNS has established a tradition for years and its news bulletin never gives any news related to the incident of tampering or embezzlement, because KNS believes authenticity and credibility.

Bhat asked reporters to never compromise with the credibility of the organization. He concluded by saying that KNS has come together, and it values the services of all the colleagues who have worked with KNS and performed their professional duties.

He said that it was the result of hard work, dedication and professionalism of the same comrades that KNS won the State Award on several occasions and won many other awards as well. (KNS)
