KNS holds condolence meet on maiden anniversary of Shujaat Bukhari

Srinagar, Jun 14 (KNS): Kashmir News Service (KNS) management headed by its Editor-in-chief Muhammad Aslam Bhat Friday held condolence meeting at its head office in Magarmal Bagh here on the maiden anniversary of prominent journalist Dr Shujaat Bukhari.

Renowned journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Srinagar's Press Colony on June 14, 2019, a day before Eid-ul-Fitr.

The assailants opened fire on Bukhari's vehicle. He was hit by multiple bullets fired from a close range. A security guard protecting him and his driver were also shot. He and others were immediately rushed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital, where the journalist succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, KNS management in a meeting today paid tributes to Shujaat Bukhari and prayed for his heavenly abode.

The KNS Editor-in-Chief highlighted the role played by Bukhari and also appreciated his work in the field of journalism.

Bhat said that the role played by Bukhari in the field of journalism can never be forgotten. He said the death of Bukhari was the loss for whole journalist fraternity, which cannot be compensated.

Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief of Daily Kashmir Horizon, Shafqat Bukhari also paid tributes to the slain journalist and prayed his heavenly abode.

He said that Shujaat Bukhari was instrumental in promoting competive journalism and overcome all the challenges that came his way in sustaining the news papaer he founded almost 11 years back. (KNS)
