Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNS): Termed the killing of Personal Security Officer (PSO) of PDP leader by militants in Natipora area of Srinagar a "well hatched conspiracy" to disrupt the ongoing DDC poll process across valley, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Monday asserted that the location of assailants where from they came have been identified and soon they will be brought to justice.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), DGP was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of slain cop Manzoor Ahmad at District Police Lines, Srinagar. He said the attack was aimed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and ongoing DDC poll process across Kashmir valley.

"Police have recieved inputs about number of militants involved in the attack and area where they came from? The slain cop laid down his life in the line of duty and we are indebted to his service. Those killed him will be brought to justice soon", DGP said.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is currently going through an electoral exercise in which people showed their massive participation which didn't suit to militants design who tried to trigger fear among masses while showing their presence. "Today morning they appeared in Natipora area of Srinagar district and fired bullets to one of our jawan who sustained critical injury and later succumbed in hospital. They (militants) doesn't want peace in valley and it is why they try to disrupt peaceful atmosphere amidst DDC polls which are aimed to empower people at grassroots level to ensure development", DGP said.

When asked how militants managed to reach Srinagar amidst tight security apparatus put in place for ongoing DDC polls, the DGP said "There is no question of security lapse. We have hightened security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir soon after dates for DDC polls were announced. But at the sametime we can't put movement of common people at halt due to tresspassing of odd number of militants. It is due to our technical as well as human intelligence network that movement of anti-national elements have been grossly barred", he added.

"We have an example of militants killed in Poonch who had recently infiltrated and were trying to reach Shopian with poll disrupt motto but due to strong intelligence mechanism in place, these anti-national elements were killed during an operation", he said.

Hinting towards Pakistan, the DGP said that neighboring country is leaving no stone unturned to disrupt peace in J&K. "We offered militants to surrender multiple times with an aim that we could show the world that how our neighbor is fomenting trouble in Kashmir. But the militants refused to give up and were killed in the encounter", the DGP said. (KNS)
