Kashmir cricketer Jasia Akhtar sold to Delhi Capital for Rs 20 Lakh in Women’s IPL auction

Srinagar, Feb 13 (KNS): Star female cricketer, Jasia Akhter, from South Kashmir’s Shopian district Monday bagged his maiden Women’s Premier League(WPL) deal of Rs 20 lakh from Delhi capitals.


Jasiya a right-handed better purchase for Women’s IPL was confirmed by Delhi Capitals over their official Twitter handle on Monday (February 13, 2023).

Jasia who was playing from Rajasthan state for past two years is scheduled to play for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) after the Delhi club won the bid for the cricketer for Rs 20 Lakhs.

WPL is a T20 cricket league organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI had received 1525 registrations out of which 246 native players and 163 overseas players were included in the auction list.

She was also called for National camp for India women’s national team in 2017 but was unable to find a place in the playing eleven. Two players from Jammu Kashmir—Jasiya Akhter and Sarla Devi—appear on the list of 409 cricketers who were sold at auction to five franchises on February 13. 

Jasiya who now has become a lone cricketer from Kashmir to featured in WPL figured at serial 250 while Sarla is at serial 305 in the WPL auction list of players which was released on Tuesday.

The Delhi Capitals have also acquired the services of India’s Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey along with South African Marizanne Kapp in the capped all-rounders set of the (WPL Player Auction. Radha was sold at a base price of INR 40 lakh. Shikha, having a base price of Rs 40 lakh.(KNS)
