Karnah, July (KNS) : The representatives of the local Sikh minority community in Karnah have expressed their gratitude to the District Administration and Police for their prompt response following a fire incident that occurred during the intervening night of 30 June and 1 July 2026, in which two cars and one motorcycle were damaged.
Soon after the incident, the District Administration and Police reached the spot, registered an FIR, and initiated an investigation. A delegation of the local Sikh community, including retired Information Officer S. Makhan Singh Sudan, met the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara to discuss the matter.
The District Administration assured the delegation that the incident is being investigated on priority and that the accused persons would be identified and apprehended at the earliest. The administration also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and communal harmony in the region and stated that the situation is being closely monitored.

The Sikh minority community expressed satisfaction with the response of the administration and police. Community members stated that they are living peacefully in the border area alongside the majority community and appealed to all sections of society to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood.
The community also conveyed its sincere thanks to the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, SSP Kupwara, Tehsil Administration Karnah, and SHO Karnah for their timely intervention, support, and assurance. They expressed confidence that those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The Sikh community further appealed to the public to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours or misinformation that could disturb the communal harmony of the region. (KNS)
