Calls on divisional commissioner Kashmir, seeks redressal of issues confronting people in his DDC constituency

Srinagar, 12 February: (KNS)   The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Youth leader and DDC Member Kaiser Ganaie led a delegation and called on Divisional Commissioner  Kashmir and impressed upon him to shift Chatterhama to rural development from Urban (SMC), Srinagar.

While interacting with the divisional commissioner, he said that the socio- economic conditions of the people living in Chatterhama were not apt to have the locality administered by SMC. He said the locality is rural in nature and the problems confronting the populace there are a typical of rural belt. " By having the locality in administered under Rural Development, I believe the objectives of Rural Development Programmes like alleviation of poverty and unemployment through creation of basic social and economic infrastructure, provision of training to rural unemployed youth and providing employment to marginal Farmers/Labourers are not reaching the locals,"he said.

Kaiser also stated that the local populace of Chatterhama have been subjected to administrative apathy and the basic unmet needs as regards health, education, environmental cleanliness, drinking water in homes, infrastructure, recreation and sport have not received any attention from the SMC. "The local populace being rural in nature cannot afford  Cesses and other taxes levied by SMC. The area would benefit more from various central government's rural specific schemes where the main thrust is for development of Agriculture, Industry, Communication, Education, MSME, Handlooms, Handicrafts,Village cottage industries,Health and Allied sectors but having the locality under SMC the objectives cannot be realized. The all-round development of the locality, which by all standards is rural in nature is possible only through rural schemes," he said

The divisional commissioner Kashmir gave a patient hearing to him and assured him that he would look into the matter.(KNS)
