JPDCL issues strict instructions to combat meter tampering & Illegal connections

Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNS): Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has issued stringent directives to its officers, emphasizing the importance of monitoring meter tampering, illegal connections, and billing irregularities.
 
The corporation warns consumers of severe repercussions for any misconduct in this regard.
 
News agency KNS reported that in a bid to curb electricity theft and ensure fair billing practices, JPDCL has intensified its efforts to crack down on meter tampering and unauthorized connections.
 
The corporation has instructed its officers to maintain a vigilant stance and promptly address any instances of malpractice.
 
Speaking on behalf of JPDCL, a top official emphasized the necessity of upholding the integrity of the electricity distribution system.
 
He stated, "Meter tampering and illegal connections not only pose a financial burden on the corporation but also undermine the reliability of the power supply for law-abiding consumers. It is imperative that we take proactive measures to deter such activities and uphold the principles of fairness and transparency."

Furthermore, JPDCL has issued a stern warning to consumers found engaging in illicit practices.
 
The corporation asserts that any individual or entity found tampering with meters, indulging in unauthorized connections, or manipulating billing processes will face strict legal consequences.
 
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to electricity consumption to the designated authorities.

For the last two months the corporation has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at identifying and penalizing individuals involved in meter tampering and unauthorized connections.
 
Under this intensified crackdown, KPDCL has deployed specialized teams equipped with advanced detection technologies to inspect meters and scrutinize power lines for any signs of tampering or illegal connections.
