Srinagar, June 27(KNS): The Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) held in Srinagar on Saturday reaffirmed constitutional governance within the association and declared all orders, notifications, and communications issued by the Honorary Secretary after May 21, 2026, as “null and void.”
The meeting, chaired by JKCA President Javid Ahmad Kitab and attended by affiliated club members and life members, passed several resolutions aimed at restoring transparency, accountability, and constitutional functioning within the association.
The General Body termed the June 25 resolution seeking the suspension of the President and the June 26 notification appointing an officiating president as unconstitutional and without legal validity. The House resolved that the affairs of the association would continue under the leadership of President Javid Ahmad Kitab.
The SGM also approved the appointment of retired Justice Deepak Verma as Ombudsman and authorized the appointment of an Ethics Officer to strengthen governance mechanisms.

Members resolved to introduce a transparent recruitment process for key positions, including the Chief Executive Officer, through advertisements and interviews. The House also decided to formulate a code of conduct for players and office bearers and discussed several administrative reforms.
The meeting paid tributes to veteran cricketers Bhardwaj, Rajinder Singh, Pawan Gupta, and Vikram Rathore, observing a two-minute silence in their memory.
Addressing the gathering, President Javid Ahmad Kitab said that leading an association that recently won the Ranji Trophy was both a matter of pride and responsibility, and assured members that JKCA would work collectively to prepare for the upcoming season and strengthen cricket in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.(KNS).
