Srinagar, Jul 2 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Thursday organised an interactive literary programme featuring noted Kashmiri writer G R Hasrat Gadda as part of its "Meet the Eminent Writer" series in Srinagar.
The event, held at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh, was attended by writers, scholars, academicians, students and literature enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering, Gadda spoke about his literary journey and discussed the changing landscape of literature, the importance of preserving the Kashmiri language and the role of writers in safeguarding the region's cultural heritage.
He urged young people to develop reading habits and encouraged aspiring writers to remain connected to their language and culture while engaging with contemporary literary trends.
The interaction included a question-and-answer session in which students and scholars sought Gadda's views on his creative process, literary influences, challenges facing regional languages and the future of Kashmiri literature.

Speakers at the programme said initiatives such as the "Meet the Eminent Writer" series provide an opportunity for aspiring writers to interact with established literary figures and help promote literary appreciation and cultural continuity.
Participants also appreciated the Academy's efforts to promote literature and regional languages through literary interactions, seminars, book discussions and cultural programmes.
The programme was organised under the guidance of JKAACL Secretary Adeel Salim and coordinated by the Academy's Editorial Wing. It concluded with a vote of thanks.(KNS)
