Says 60 playgrounds have been flood lit; many synthetic athletic tracks to come up in J&K

Jammu, Nov 24 (KNS): Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez on Friday said that Jammu and Kashmir has seen an unprecedented growth in sports activities due to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's keen interest in the field as he has taken up the sports a priority.


According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez while talking to media persons that it is a matter of pride that successful conduct of National School Games took place at Jammu as this was the biggest ever contingent which was hosted. "Around 5000 children from J&K and other parts of the country participated in National School Games. This was the biggest ever event the department of Youth Services and Sports held," he said.

He said the Jammu and Kashmir has seen an unprecedented growth in sports activities as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken sports as a priority. "I congratulate Department of Youth Services and Sports for holding such events and wish to conduct more such events in future in J&K," he said.

He said this year the Department of YSS offered free coaching camps to children in order to improve their skills on the turf. He also said 3000 children from J&K will participate in different parts of India.

He added that sports infrastructure in J&K has seen a lots of improvement under the supervision of LG Manoj Sinha, and added, "Several synthetic athletic tracks will come up in J&K while as 60 playgrounds have been flood lit". (KNS)
