J&K BJP slams Basant Rath, says no place for indiscipline in party

Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit on Thursday said that there is no place for indiscipline in the party after former IPS officer Basant Rath, who was prematurely retired from his services, registered himself as a member of the BJP online.

Basant Rath, 2000 batch IPS officer, was retired prematurely on Wednesday in the “public interest” after three years after he was placed under suspension for gross misconduct and misbehavior.

Taking to X, formerly called Twitter, Rath shared a screen shot to announce his online registration as a member of BJP.

However, the local BJP unit seems to have some reservations about his being part of the party stating that anyone can join as a member of the party online. “It is party leadership which finally takes a call, but there is no place for indiscipline. He was prematurely retired from service because of his indiscipline,” said a senior BJP leader. (KNS)
