ITI Bandipora Celebrates World Environment Day

 Bandipora, June 05(KNS): To raise awareness about the environment and ecology among the masses, a grand function was held at ITI Bandipora on the eve of 'World Environment Day' on Monday.

 
Every year, this day is observed as the day dedicated to educating masses about the environment, planting trees and clean surroundings besides raising awareness on environmental issues.
 
On the occasion, the speakers stressed upon the conservation of the environment, restoration of wetlands and springs on scientific lines keeping in view the current environmental issues and concerns. They also threw light on the importance of plantation drive and asked participants to plant saplings of different species of trees in the premises of their courtyard.
 
The Superintendent ITI, Saahil Rashid, while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the audience to minimize use of plastics and polythene.  He urged all the participants to grow more and more plants in their localities for environmental sustainability.
 
Earlier, a Cleanliness and plantation drive was conducted in the campus premises and a debate competition was also held and the participants were felicitated by the guests.This year the theme for the 'World Environment Day' was ‘Ecosystem Restoration under campaign #BeatPlasticPollution. The programme was organised by ITI Bandipora in collaboration with the Department of Social Forestry Bandipora.(KNS).
