Ganderbal December 25 (KNS) : Senior Political Leader and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar Sunday inaugurated United Lar Premier League cricket tournament at Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Jabbar Cricket Stadium Lar.
The tournament has been organised to promote sports related spirit in the district and give young and promising talents an opportunity to come together for the cause of sports.
On the occasion, the former MLA interacted with players and urged upon them to vigorously participate in sports and athletic activities apart from pursuing their academics for their physical and mental health.
Sheikh said that the sport has a positive and constructive role in our social and psychological development besides such events enable youth to engage in positive pursuits.
Jabbar appreciated the organizers for organizing such tournaments which will help to keep the young generation away from lethal mobile games, drugs, social evils and inculcate the spirit and love among the youth.
Later Ishfaq Jabbar visited many places to offer his condolences to the families of some prominent people who passed away recently. The places he visited include Wakura, Kurag, Sehpora, Kokagund , and Sonerpora. Ishfaq expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
During the visit people belonging to different walks of life met the former MLA and informed him about the public issues and their grievances.
The demand and greivances include transformer for Sheikh Mohalla Wakura, Pir Mohalla Sehpora and Oxygen Concentrator for Wellness Centre Sehpora.
Mr Jabbar gave a patient hearing to the people and brought their issues into the notice of concerned authorities for their quick redressal. (KNS)
