Srinagar, July 23 (KNS): The troops of India and Pakistan on Thursday exchanged heavy gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowgam Sector of North Kashmir.

Pakistan Army on Tuesday resorted to firing and shelling on forward areas along the LoC in Nowgam Sector, drawing befitting retaliation from Indian soldiers, a defence spokesperson said.

“Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the LoC in Naugam Sector, today evening by firing Mortars and other weapons.
Befitting response is being given”,He said the Indian Army retaliated befittingly.

The cross-border shelling between the two sides was going on when last reports were received, the officials said.

However, there was no immediate report of any casualty during the shelling (KNS)
