IED diffused on Patha Chowk-Nowgam road in Sgr, traffic restored

Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNS): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) spotted on Pantha-Chowk-Nowgam stretch of National Highway was diffused and traffic was resumed on the road, officials said.

 

An official told KNS that an IED was planted a few hundred meters away from the Nowgam Railway station near a bridge. “ Road Opening Party (RoP) team spotted a tin box early this morning after which the BDS was called to check it. It turned out an IED fitted in a tin box,” the official said.

 

He said traffic has been restored after halting it for some time on the stretch as a precautionary measure.“

The official added the IED may have been planted to target the security forces, especially convoys.
