Srinagar July 10 (KNS): Director Tourism Raja Yaqoob on Monday said that the department is identifying new 75 trekking routes for which they have already hired agencies. 


Talking to media, Director tourism said that various trekking groups have approached them from across the country and today they flagged off two groups, one will go to KGL and other to Tarsar-Marsar. 

"You will be happy to know that the department of tourism is identifying 75 new trekking routes for which we have already hired an agency to bring them on trekking map," he said. 

He said the department is focusing on adventure tourism now for which they are starting a zip Line at Baramulla and they are also starting water sports activities at Dal Lake in Srinagar. 

"We are also reviving pilgrim tourism for which we have conducted series of meetings. Coming to off beat destinations, in 6 months more than 8 lakh tourists have visited Doodthpathri, which is becoming new hotspot for tourists. In coming days we will also have tourism festivals in Bangus and Gurez Valleys," he said. (KNS)
