Health Conclave was aimed to exchange knowledge, provide solutions to emerging health problems: India’s WHO representative

Srinagar, July 06 (KNS): World Health Organization representative to India Dr Roderico H Ofrin said that health conclave at Srinagar was aimed at exchanging ideas by stakeholders related to healthcare service and provide best possible solutions to emerging challenges.

"It was good to discuss health related issues with stakeholders at SKICC during the conclave. Such kind of conclaves are being organised to share and exchange ideas on health issues and provide best possible solutions to emerging challenges," he told exclusively to KNS.

He thanked government of J&K for inviting him to the conclave and said there is a lot of work that needs to be done in J&K.

He said non-communicable diseases (NCD) is not just not a disease issue rather it is what we eat and how we move. "The government has launched some initiatives in the conclave related to mental health, which is a grave concern for us. There is a need to talk with patients who are in distress and anxiety," he said.

"We have a lot of work in J&K related to NCD especially for hypertension, immunisation and diabetes. We are happy for being allowed as partners of government in addressing emerging health issues," he added.

Dr Roderico also urged media to play their role in disseminating right information. "Media is an important player of our society. It should come forward and play it's role in disseminating facts," he added. (KNS)
