Appeals senior officials of the police facilitate the smooth working of all healthcare professionals

Srinagar, May 26, (KNS): The General secretary of Human Rights and Anti corruption Forum Hq-Delhi,Nasir Hussain expresses deep regret over a series of unfortunate incidents taking place over the course of past few days at Hawal Srinagar and today at Bandipora in which doctors including chief medical officer Bandipora, senior doctors, paramedics and healthcare professionals of either gender have been harassed and misbehaved with by some elements within the police while they were on their way to work or in the process of discharging their professional duties.

In a statement issued to KNS, Nasir Hussain said that some of our doctor’s have been harangued, heckled and harassed by some high- headed and biased elements in the police force thereby creating an atmosphere that vitiates and undermines the morale of our healthcare warriors who are under tremendous physical and psychological pressure while dealing with this covid -19 pandemic.

Besides these, doctors are made to que in long lines meant to chaff off lockdown defaulters- this notwithstanding the fact that these doctors plead their case for allowing easy access but almost always these pleas fall on deaf and indifferent ears.

Nasir Hussain condemns Bandipora incident in which CMO Bandipora Dr Tajamul Hussain stopped by Police and not allow going to quarantine centre also condemns Hawal incident in which a noted cardiologist Dr Syed Maqbool working as a front line warrior in covid times was abused thrashed and kept in custody for whole day and not allowed even to make a phone call is a shameful act and highly deplorable.

Nasir Hussain said “I strongly condemn such an act and urge the authorities not only to take cognizance of the matter but also order an impartial probe and the guilty be brought to book. Those who deserve our gratitude and thankfulness in these testing times where they risk their lives and that of their families receive abuses harassment and thrashing is much more than just unfortunate.

Nasir Hussain appeals senior officials of the police especially the DGP Jammu and Kashmir, to facilitate the smooth working of all healthcare professionals in these trying times and to take strict action against those misguided elements within the police who are bringing discredit and reproach to their community by indulging in such gratuitous acts.(KNS)
