Srinagar, Jul 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) president Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Monday alleged that he was not allowed to leave his residence on Martyrs' Day and was effectively placed under house arrest.
In a statement, Yaseen claimed he was prevented from visiting the Martyrs' Graveyard to pay tributes to the July 13 martyrs and from carrying out his routine public engagements.
Yaseen said every citizen and political leader in a democratic society should have the freedom to peacefully pay homage to the martyrs, and termed the restrictions "unfortunate".
He also expressed concern over what he described as curbs on peaceful movement, saying such measures raise questions about democratic rights and civil liberties.(KNS).
